I have a page on my website that is used to search a database of around 5000-6000 items. It searches 2 fields and returns any matches that contain anything in either field. I have been told it is not very well optimised by the site hosting, and I need to determine if it is a real issue that I have with my code, or if it's an issue with the site hosting. 99% of the time the query seems to work fine as expected but I am having downtime supposedly because of this functionality. I am looking for someone that can provide the same functionality in a more efficient way. I don't know if searching directly in the database is the best way to do this, or if the query / database settings could be amended to be more efficient. I'd also like to know if it is actually causing a problem, or if it's an excuse from the hosting company.
