Greetings, I'm looking for bids for engineers and manufacture locators to design and build a custom, oversized, Asymmetrical umbrella with curtains, that can be deployed either on a stand or mobile cart platform, and mounted for use as a portable shaded workspace for viewing color-critical video monitor screens for work on commercial and film set production. Anyone with extensive experience in tent/shelter/umbrella design and engineering please reach out. Fabric (and seams) would have to be very tough, reinforced material, waterproof, and as quiet as possible. Additionally limited and controlled color choices would be necessary, following as closely as possible, the Munsell scale M7/M8 neutral Light Grey for the exterior of the canopy/curtains, and dark grey M2 for the interior of the panels. The interior could be achieved with a coating as opposed to a secondary fabric layer. Designing the canopy should attempt to make it as free of light-leaks as possible, and the frame and fabric together should be able to withstand strong, sustain winds without damage/failure. Ideally a push-button collapsing mechanism would be integrated, as well as a 3/8-16 female threaded base of the center pole, and if possible have reinforced pockets/rod ends to protect the canopy fabric against poke-through and injuring people working around it. Designing the frame out of aluminum post and fiberglass rods would be ideal to keep weight to a minimum while providing adequate strength in the wind and to support the curtains, which would have pockets to add weights to keep them hanging vertically, with very minimum canopy frame distortion. From the center pole, the rear canopy would extend only roughly 12-24 inches while the front end of the canopy would extend 48-60 inches, and the width would also be 54-60 inches. The curtains would need to roll up and secure to the canopy top (velcro?) and be able to zip together vertically, and would need to extend 48-60 inches long from the canopy downward. Help with sourcing a manufacturer for prototyping and manufacture is also needed, and a deliverable of a first generation prototype design and prototype assembly contract marks completion of the project bid here, however open to further refinement if development goes well and a viable product is possible. I have attached a few images to help illustrate what I'm talking about, and there are a couple photos of a current offering that is built on a 4x4 floppy grip frame. So Accomplishing the same kind of cart-mountable blackout solution but in the asymmetrical umbrella form factor.
