We are currently looking for someone to update our DEFCON Warning System desktop gadget to version 1.1. This is a small, minor project that will take someone of even moderate skill very little time to complete. You can download the current gadget from [login to view URL] and you can see the website it is affiliated with at [login to view URL] so you can understand the purpose of the gadget. You can see the original freelancer description of the original v1.0 project here http://www.freelancer.com/projects/Java-Javascript/Windows-Gadget.html The following is the description of what the gadget currently does: The gadget polls a small text file for the alert code every 10 minutes and displays the appropriate graphic. Should the alert code be upgraded (meaning the alert number is LOWER than the previous number), it sounds a tone, displays a message box, and flashes. Left-clicking on the gadget stops the flash. Left-clicking on the gadget also will open up the main website. There are options to turn off the sound, turn off click open website, and turn off message box This is what we want changed/added for version 1.1 - Remove flashing (and remove the option from the options panel) - Add a small banner to the bottom of the gadget which will display if the gadget has been updated to a new version number. So if the gadget's current version is 1.1, and 1.2 comes out, a little text banner will display that will let the user know there is an updated version. Add option to not display this banner. The version number will be in the same file as the alert code, but on the second line. Currently the file looks like this: 5 The file will now look like this 5 1.1 Where 1.1 is the gadget version number. - Add a small banner to the bottom of the gadget which will display if the main website has been updated. Main website file is index.html. It should check not only the file date, but the time as well, as the website can be updated multiple times a day (or even hour) depending on the situation. The gadget must remember when the last update was in between computing sessions, so if the user shuts down his computer and there was an update before the user returns and turns his computer on, the gadget will display an update banner. Left-clicking on the gadget to open up the website will clear the banner. Right-clicking on the gadget will clear the banner without opening up the website. Add the option not to display this banner. Note that it is possible for both the gadget and the website to be updated at the same time, so be sure both banners can be displayed at the same time. As you can see, this is a small, simple project, so bid accordingly. If you have any questions, please post them for all to see. If you are asking a question, chances are we weren't clear enough and others are asking the same question.

Hello sir. I think the purpose of that gadget demand checking of status change too (checking of change date of [login to view URL] file every few minuts). Should update feature be banner? Seem to me that it would be better if message box popup and ask if user want to update gadget. Thank you.
