Experienced English & History teacher, writer, editor and proofreader, I am the worker you need. I have extensive experience editing and proofreading both short and 250+ page manuscripts, so I know how to stick with projects and meet deadlines. In addition, I have written several successful grants as well as fiction and nonfiction projects. I have written extensively for private individuals.
As a certified teacher and contract writer, my grammar and mechanics skills are excellent. I thoroughly enjoy editing and helping to improve other writers’ works. I have a B.A. in English Language and Literature from North Carolina State University and my teaching certifications in both English and History are from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. I also received my National Board Certification in 2006.
As an editor and proofreader, I have experience working with many different types of writing, both fiction and nonfiction. I have written a creative non-fiction memoir and am working on having it published. There is an excerpt in my portfolio. My writing skills extend to both serious and humorous subjects and I enjoy writing in different genres. Grant writing is also something that I enjoy as the ones I have written have had a significant financial impact on the nonprofit organization with which I worked. Obtaining those grants gave me a significant sense of accomplishment.
As a freelancer, I have experience with creative writing, academic writing, essay writing, article writing, scholarship searches, proofreading and editing, and various other jobs. I have a number of examples of my work in my portfolio. Please, take a look.
Some of my most valuable skills though are my abilities to stay focused, organized and on time. Being able to work with others in a professional and courteous manner is also something at which I excel. Though most freelance work is online with little face-to-face contact, having customer service skills is always important. I aim to go do excellent work, and to be friendly and respectful throughout the job.
Thank you for reviewing my proposal, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
