Just use Google News or Newsvine. If you want something for yourself you can customize the heck out of it, and have predetermined filters. If you are wanting to create a competitor, you'll never compete. The world has Redditt, twitter, Google News, Newsvine, dig, mashable, and many many more. You'll never compete. I spent one of my proposal credits just to tell you that this is a stupid idea.
