**On U3 Smart Drive platform** We need a function that **read the hosts file on U3 drive**. Normally the hosts file is situated on C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc for Windows 2000 and C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc for Windows XP. Winsock read on this file for resolve IP address. We need that when we insert a U3 smart drive device on a Windows PC, auto start a program that REDIRECT the Winsock call, and read a hosts file situated on U3 drive, for example N:\System\Apps\hosts. When I take off, when I dismount the U3 device, Winsock read again the directory \\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. This solution is because we need to keep protected on U3 smart drive the hosts file, that contain secrets internet address.
