We run a jobs bulletin board for tradespeople. We send them notice of work in their area.
We have a database of tradesman subscribers. When a form on our website is filled in, it runs a php script that extracts a certain number of number of matching subscriber records from a MySQL database.
The number of records it extracts is hard coded in the php script, and returns the same amount of records each time.
eg:
Use the form to
find a bricklayer -returns 15 of the closest bricklayers
find a concretor - returns 15 of the closest concretors
We wish to have this changed so that the amount of records returned is variable, based on the trades category selected in the form.
eg:
find a bricklayer -returns 12 of the closest bricklayers
find a concretor - returns 18 of the closest concretors
To do this we have added a new field to the trades category table and indicate the number needed for each category. We need the php script to extract this variable when determining how many results are needed.
This should be fairly easy for the right person and should only require a few lines of code.
I have included the php script and it's includes script. See lines 94 to 100 of [login to view URL] - it is '$t2' that needs to become dynamic.
