I require a script (either on the web or as a desktop app) that will generate text files using data from a .csv file.
Basically, it's like mail merge in Microsoft Word, but in plain .txt files.
The user will provide the .csv file and the original .txt file, which will contain merge fields that link to the .csv file.
## Deliverables
Important note: when you bid, please include the words "I'M HUMAN" in a private message, so that I know that you have read the requirements. Any bids without this will be ignored.
This is how I imagine it would work, as a web app. See also the attached files.
* Go to a web page
* There are two upload boxes, one for the .txt file, one for the .csv file
* In the .csv file, each line represents a variation of the .txt file, just like in a typical mail merge
* The script generates either one .txt file with all the variations or generates separate txt files, named according to the $$ID$$ field.
* The files are either put on a server for download, made available via a link on the website, or emailed.
This app will only be used by me (not the public) so it doesn't matter if it's not pretty (that should save me money!)
I need to be able to change the number of fields in the csv if I want, at a later date
If the script comes across blank fields, it should ignore them
It needs to be able to cope with very large fields (see attached csv file)
The resulting txt file needs to be very clean, as it will be used to generate html
PLEASE ask if you have any questions.
I'm open to suggestions for improvement, and advice as to whether a desktop or web app is best.
