I would like a program that acts as a "stepper" trainer with audible and graphic instructions to children and adults with autism or other disabilities. It would be operated on an iPod touch.
An example of the functionality: The user selects a picture icon of one of a number of recipes. The stepper then takes the individual through step-by step instructions. The instructor may customize the steps by changing the audible cue (none as an option), number of steps, whether the steps progress automatically or by touch, the pictures that are used as a cue (importable or via camera if using iPhone).
## Deliverables
I am not sure if the speech should be digitized or synthesized. digitized would either require an external recording device or an iPhone, I assume. I need to go by way of the most economic solution, as I am just a teacher dreaming up a solution to a problem that will affect other teachers with little budget.
Another customization would be to have the verbal prompt cycle every customized interval of time.
Another feature that might help is to have the software record how long it takes for the individual to complete each step and/or the activity as a whole (latency)
