Homepage design (modifications in .css file)

I have the following site under construction, [login to view URL], which is based on the same idea with www.thebigwordproject.com. I want a better and a-bit-more-impressing design(colors,layout,fonts etc.) for the homepage and the letter pages of my site, keeping the functionality and the basic look of the web [login to view URL] other words, I want the .css file to be modified, but I am open also to suggestions, to make the site more appealing. therefore, my expectation is a low-cost, short-term project. the site is based on php. [login to view URL] design and look can be duplicated to some [login to view URL], round-look shapes/fonts, a-little bright color will be incorporated into my site.. ( blue can be substituted with purple or violet, for my page) details can be discussed later.
