We are looking for a talented developer with good knowledge of PHP, jQuery and HTML. Your main task will be to train our web crawler to extract specific information on particular websites. You will be given a portfolio of websites that you must extract data from, and then make sure that the data extracted is being processed and our high quality standards are being maintained. You will have to work during Canada Est time and you need to be reachable through skype at any time while you are working for us, so good English is mandatory. You will be working as a part of our offshore team. We are looking for a developer, not a company that provides these services, don't post unless you are the one that's going to do all the work. I have been working with PHP, jQuery and HTML for the last 2 or 3 years (before I worked in server administration and ASP.NET). Lately, i have also worked on a scraping program using PHP Curl, DOM and XPath, and I believe that I have now seen most of the standard issues. I have good English skills with a Toefl score of 116/120. I am located in Nicaragua (although I am from Belgian descent), so my timezone is just one hour different from yours, which should make communication easy. Although I am starting my company, I have no staff yet, and I will indeed do all the work myself. I wonder in how far your training of the web crawler is linked to web intelligence and big data. I took the coursera course of April 2013 on the subject, and did some work with Map Reduce using Python in that context.
