The original Rent A Coder project was tasked to modify the procedure in the Microsoft DirectX VB SDK sample which saves an uncompressed AVI file so that it can be saved using a video codec. The sample VB project is in the DirectX SDK: C:\DXSDK\samples\Multimedia\VBSamples\DirectShow\Editing\SlideShowVB\SlideshowVB.vbp. The original Coder project completed the project by creating an OCX in Visual C++ Version 6 that enumerates the codecs and add the selected codec to the video stream. It works properly in Windows 2000 and in XP but fails an unknown percentage of the time in Windows 98. Supplemental: One bidder earlier today pointed out correctly that the error might be in a particular operating system. That is, the OS is missing a system file, needs a service pack or has a problem with some technology. Let me modify the above to address that: My goal is to fix the bug. The error may be generated by the VB code, the OCX or perhaps there is indeed an issue with the user’s operating system that could be caught during installation. The actual application that uses the OCX is located at the below URL: [login to view URL] The error seems to occur when saving a file on Windows 98 operating systems. If the error is in the installed technology on the user’s computer I’ll need an installer script that will check for it rather than any code changes in the attached projects. NOTE: The development environment requires DirectX 8.1 SDK, VB-6 and V C++ SP-5.
## Deliverables
1. Complete and fully-functional working projects in C++ and VB or a WISE installtion script that catches the problem on the user's OS. (If the projects or script won't compile on my system they’re not complete.) Any and all changes to the exiting projects must be annotated with the coder’s name. 2. A statement releasing any copyright claims and simple non-disclosure agreement stating that the coder will protect my trade secrets must be executed before payment is released. If the coder has a standard contract it will probably be acceptable so long as it addresses the issues. 3. If the code is changed significantly, a list of any and all additional dependency files that need to be installed with the projects must be supplied with the code. 4. If the bug fix consists of an installation issue rather than code, a WISE installation script would be the preferred solution but any script that can be imported into WISE will be acceptable. This project must be finished in no more than two days after acceptance with daily progress reports.
## Platform
The compiled VB project using the C++ OCX must run without error on Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Support for Windows 95 and NT isn't necessary.
