Hi, I have read the project description and i am really interested in. I have large experience in node.js backend development. Security first is my tag cause your app can't the most beautifull but if it is not secured. That ahs no a great importance cause your personal data are visible to everyone. To secure the backend, I use some policy like encrypting password, using authentication system (basic authentication, jwt, or federate the authentication ), white/blacklisting some hosts(cors). For the data storage, the obvious choice is MongoDB which is a noSQL database. And i use mongoose module to interact with the mongodb database. Hope you will consider my bid! kindly regards!
