Running a desktop software on the cloud

We are trying to find the best way to have [login to view URL] running on the cloud so that the teachers can access it without the need of downloading the system. We are aware of the traditional VM hosting with rdp remote access which allows opening the system on a web even from a mobile. Is there a better way to do so? Either a way to host it as it, or rewriting the code to make it a web application?
