Create a parallax effect with jQuery that works on iOS

I need a parallax effect on an image in the middle of the page. It should work exactly like this: [login to view URL] The only issue with the JS fiddle is that it works on the body element and not another <div> that contains a background image in the page. I tried to edit but maybe I just have the selectors wrong.
