We have developed an application that is using JBoss 5.1.0. The JBoss port 1099 works great during development however when we are testing the application where the JBoss is remote, still using port 1099, the remote client can't connect. Where I need help is someone who has JBoss experience that can help me resolve this port issue with JBoss so that the client will have access to the remote JBoss. I am open to using 1099 or using any other port number. Thanks. ## Deliverables 1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. They did change the 1099 port to 10990, restarted and of course JBoss failed to start. So we changed it back to 1099, restarted JBoss and everything is fine. We also changed the client back to port 1099. So the connection is this on the client side: scanans.provider.url=jnp://[login to view URL]:1099. As expected, an exception was thrown. So for sure it is the client having trouble connecting to the remote EJB. Again, when things are all local, everything works find and dandy. So basically the help I need is to get the port connection resolved. The server that the remote JBoss is running on is Windows Professional. Just regular windows professional. Both the JBoss and even the SWING client are both behind a firewall. The onsite client is looking into providing us VPN in order to resolve this issue quicker. Hope this helps in placing a final bid for everyone. I do need to start this project today. You can reach me at GoogleTalk: jaypersanchez or YahooIM jayper_sanchez or Skype: jayper.sanchez. Thank you. Regards, Jay * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Wednesday Dec 1, 2010 4:16:22 PM: Correction on the server; it will eventually run on Windows Server 2008. Also, forget VPN access. We will have to work with a set of intructions provided by the chosen consultant and work our way through this. Basically, I will just need your guidance and I will do the leg work. Thanks in advance for taking on this challenging project. I haven't given the project to anyone yet because I wanted to be sure where the problem is coming from and I believe I know where the root problem is. So I have confirmed that both client and server machine is in the same building. I can ping the server from client machine without any problem. I had the user put the client app in the same machine where jboss is running, changed the settings to point to localhost. It runs fine. But when we changed from local host to actual IP address, it doesn't run fine. This basically tells me that the network is fine but there has be a JBoss setting that is missing. This is what we tried so far. I had place this line in the [login to view URL] for jboss: set JAVA_OPTS=-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=localhost -Dremoting.bind_by_host=false %JAVA_OPTS% We did change the "localhost" to an actual IP address. But both client and remote app didn't work. It only works when it is back to localhost. So I am pretty confident that this is a JBoss setting. So I will need help from someone who has JBoss experience and has sys admin experience and I need this today. Thanks again everyone. Please IM me directly for any quesitions GoogleTalk: jaypersanchez or YahooIM: jayper_sanchez or Skype: [login to view URL] Thanks. Jay ## Platform JBoss 5.1.0 running on Windows server.
