This is a good opportunity for me. My approach are student-centred and activity-based learning. You will not find me asking your son to memorize. Here are what I have in mind: 1) Writting start with the mind (then with the words). I would like to apply De Borno creative thinking techniques to stimulate ideas. Here we can start by asking your son to connect his current knowledge and experience to the topic. If not imaginative techiuqe will be used. 2) Mind-mapping. I will coach your sons to organize his thoughts and ideas using mind-map 3) Depending on his style, I would see wheither to apply Toulmin's model of presenting arguement. Or to stick with "thesis statement" approach 4) To facilitate your sons constructing arguement in writting. E.g., thesis statement, supporting arguement, example, conclusion 5) Practice. This is not a normal exercise. I would ask him to state his idea in layman term and evaluate his writtings. This exercise would give indication which part of writting that need to be improved; the idea, the vocabulary, the arrangement and structure, etc. I am open for discussion on how my knowledge in psychology would be able to help your sons. We can work with practical grammar for the start where he can try understanding it with examples. It is important that you are able to write whatever you are thinking, therefore it will be an effective method if we start conversing in proper sentences. Conversation makes it easier to write. If one thinks right, they write right.

I'd honestly enjoy working together with your son and testing different methods and approaches aimed at developing his cognitive abilities and giving more structure to his writing. I have previous experience with teaching writing (but probably to a bit older audiences). I would propose going through his texts and analysing them together, using different brainstorming techniques, talking about different phases of writing, etc. Hope to hear from you. As a professional teacher, I have to say that i have a lot of knowledge in regards of writing. I have also the passion to teach children with determination and make sure that they have learned anything before leaving. young children like your son dont need Journalist or even article writers just to to make sure that their writing skills will be developed because at this time they dont have yet enough knowledge in all aspects or forms of literature and this includes writing. your son need a Person that has a dignity to teach children that is inline with their level of thinking..
