Text classification using unsupervised machine learning

A couple of points to note: 1. Clustering is an unsupervised learning method - correct. But it is not a classification algorithm, it is a segmentation/grouping algorithm. 2. Classification is usually a supervised learning method. E.g., Decision Tree, Random Forest, SVM etc. these are usual classification algorithms. Hello, I am master student and my area of expertise is Machine Learning specifically deep learning models. However, I would use a shallow model for clustering your problem, namely K-mean method. I can do this using C#, matlab, python or other programming language you prefer, but if all are the same, I will probabily do it using C# or matlab. I will be providing you a way to add other classes and retrain the model or better to add new classes and only train for the new class which shall be a fast for training the new class. I have extensive experiencing in document clustering as it was the basis of my research in college. I was able to use text clustering on restaurant reviews to determine types of food mention in reviews and pair them with sentiment to create groups of people with the same taste in food. As far as the project goes, it sounds as though you have a traditional clustering problem, and it will come down to choosing a distance metric that gives you the best separation into 170 classes given the meta data of each block of text. The distance metric used will be directly dependent upon this. Happy to discuss in more detail.

My current job involves nonparametric clustering and analysis of infinite streams of documents, and I am current on the theory and application of modern text analysis methods.
