Project Title: GoFundMe to raise money to save my home. Description: I am seeking a skilled and experienced freelancer to help me create a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to save my home. Purpose of the GoFundMe Campaign: - The main purpose of this campaign is to raise funds to prevent the foreclosure of my home. I have been in the same place for 8 and a half years. I went off of work in 2019 for medical reasons (before Covid) and my debt load and monthly expenses by far exceed my income. I need to sell my home in order to cover my debt, but I can't sell my home because it is in disrepair. (For example, I started Renovations in 2019 and ran out of money before I could finish them. My main bathroom is down to bare studs and it will cost me $15,000+ to repair. Another example is that I had to replace the gas fireplace due to a leak and now I have to come up with money to add stone around it because it too is down to bare studs. Another example involves a hole in my kitchen ceiling that my strata's tradespeople made to investigate a leak. They refuse to fix it, so I have had a hole in my kitchen ceiling for the last couple of years. The bathroom lights are broken and in disrepair, too, along with a few other things (like painting and flooring...) I have been keeping up with my mortgage payments, but I can't afford food or to pay my other bills. My mental health is in a bad state because I don't have anywhere to go once I do sell. I don't have family to help me out (both parents passed away more than 10 years ago.) I don't know any handymen that could do this work at a discount and all of the quotes I've receive so far are between 25 and 30 thousand. A little about me: I give. When my son was 17, I took in one of his friends because he had no where to go. When my son was 18, I took in another friend who couldn't go home. I had three 18-year-olds, I was a single parent, and I had no additional funding to take care of them, but it was worth it. The kids are grown now and all living on their own. Two years ago, a girl I knew bought a leaky, moldy 5th wheel before she realized it's state. She had no where else to go. She didn't come to me for help directly. (She posted on Facebook and was living in a different town.) I have a 2 bedroom plus den condo and I reached out to her and offered her (and her 5 animals...3 cats and 2 dogs) space in my home until she could find another place. I didn't tell her that I was allergic to the animals or make up excuses not to help. I was never that type of person. She stayed for 4-5 months, until she found more suitable accommodations in another city. I've always been one to help others, but now, it's me that needs the help... I was in a couple of car accidents just over 10 years ago. It is the reason why I am now on long-term disability benefits and not working. In 2017, I took out a Litigation Loan of $20,000. I was expecting my case to be resolved shortly afterward. My case still hasn't been settled... In 2017, I told my lawyer that I would like my case to be settled before the world ends. His response, in typical lawyer fashion, was that I better hope the world doesn't end because he has an end-of-the-world plan. The lawyers on both sides proposed waiting. (I had a greedy lawyer who wasn't working with my best interests in mind.) When Covid hit, he implemented his ""end-of-the-world plan" and skipped the country. I didn't find out until the Litigation Loan folks called me in 2021 to let me know that my lawyer was no longer registered with the Bar. To add to it, my $20,000 loan is now more than $65,000. This is the main reason why I need to sell my home: to cover this debt. I love my home, even though it's in disrepair. I do not want to let it go and be displaced to another province, far from everything I have rebuilt for myself, including my 2-3 closest friends and my only support system. I'm too old to start over in this way. (I now receive a Senior's Discount in some stores.) I am looking to raise enough money to cover the renovations/repairs, but I would really like to raise enough to cover the Litigation Loan (or more) so that I won't be forced out of my home and to another province where I will be too far from support system. Fundraising Goal: - We aim to raise more than $25,000 through this GoFundMe campaign in order to repair my home and prepare it for sale to cover my debt, which is more than $230,000 (not including the first mortgage!) Deadline for Fundraising Goal: - The deadline for reaching our fundraising goal is within 1-3 months. (The next provincial assessment comes out on March 1st. The plan is to sell at the 2024 assessed value, but the place needs to be fixed up in order to do that ) Ideal Skills and Experience: - Proven experience in creating successful crowdfunding campaigns, particularly on platforms like GoFundMe. - Strong communication and storytelling skills to effectively convey our situation and the urgency of our need. - Social media marketing expertise to promote the campaign and reach a wide audience. - Knowledge of effective fundraising strategies and techniques to maximize donations. - Ability to create compelling visuals and videos to engage potential donors. - Experience in managing and updating campaign progress to build trust and transparency with donors.
