AWS RDS MySQL DB Optimization and Fixes

We are looking for a DB admin with AWS RDS MySQL background, to work on the following problem : #VEN-1 innodb lock wait timeout We have our RDS MySQL database. There we are receiving innodb lock wait timeout error multiple times in our application. The problem statement is to identify the root cause behind these errors, how to catch these errors in real time as they happen, and then prevention of such cases. If there is something in performance insight where alerts can be put, that will be something we are looking at optionally. #VEN-2 : RDS Upscale / Downscale with ZERO downtime We are looking for a way to downscale / upscale our RDS instance basis the load, but with zero downtime. Internally we implemented python based lambda function through terraform (automation) on multi AZ RDS for vertical autoscaling. Problem with this approach is scaling is happening as intended but during each scaling activity due to the underlying AWS limitations, 30 to 50 sec downtime is introduced. Main aim is to reduce this 30 sec downtime to zero sec for performing scaling activities Vendor is supposed to come up with a 0 downtime solution. #VEN-3 - Reduce IOPS and Tune the SQL query / RDS parameters We have a PHP based application that uses AWS MySQL RDS as the database. It is a very write heavy application, as observed from the sql query logs. We have been observing very high write IOPS on our RDS. Average write IOPS at any time is around 8000, having an effect on both application performance and cost. The problem statement is vendor should apply optimisation measures at DB and SQL Level to reduce such high IOPS numbers.
