a) Intended Learning Outcomes assessed:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nOn successful completion of this module students should be able to:\r\n\r\n1. Critically analyse the need for both independent and internal audits and contrast their goals, functions and processes\r\n\r\n2. Examine and correctly apply all the processes and tasks available in the different audit formats to real life situations\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nb) Description of assignment\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAs an auditor, students are expected to prepare a detailed audit plan based on the financial statements of a company (the most recent one) chosen by the students individually (preferably not consolidated financial statements of large multinational companies but rather financial statements of a local subsidiary / company).\r\n\r\nThe adaption of audit methods covered during the seminars to a real-life company is required while performing this task.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIn the written assignment, students have to cover the following topics:\r\n\r\n \r\na) Description of the company and its environment (industry, regulations, reporting framework, strategies, business risks).\r\nb) Performing a risk assessment identifying audit risk and its components. Calculation of the materiality level that student intends to use during the audit process (calculations have to be based on the available financial figures and have to be justified).\r\nc) Based on the risk assessment, selection two items of the statement of the financial position. Definition of assertions that have to be tested and the appropriate testing methods. Potential connection to the income statement also has to be discussed (and additional testing).\r\n \r\nb) Format and timing\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n2,500 words; Font: Times New Roman 12; Line Spacing: 1,5; Alignment: Justified; Harvard Style referencing.
