c++ wxWidgets small code

I have an application which appends text to a wxTextCtrl from threads. Now the issue is, it is using a function i've created, like: AddText("the test to add", MywxColor); // to add the text in a certain colour. The problem is, this isn't so reliable because of the threads issue it seems, and sometimes colours aren't coming out, and some times text will be on the same line, when it should have been on a seperate line. It has been suggested that a custom event would do the trick, but now I need to work out how to specify a wxString, and a wxColor to the function that would be called in the event. Also, i've been trying all day to get a custom event to work, and I just cannot seem to do it. I'm looking at: [login to view URL] ..and also: [login to view URL] So, if you're going with the custom event idea, which seems like the correct way to do this, I need some code to create a custom event whereby in the main function that gets exectuted when the event is fired, I can add my code to add text to the wxTextCtrl. Then, in places in the program whereby i want to add text to the text ctrl, currently I have: AddLine("the text to add, MyWxColor); Perhaps, I would need to post an event or something here, but I would also need to pass these two variables somehow.
