PHP + MySQL job, pulling data and adding to table

I need a HTML page updating into a php script which pulls out data from a mysql table and displays this data a html table.

I have a html table already ready to go (css+html made). Now there is a mysql db table on the webserver with this table:

CREATE TABLE `leaders` (

`position` int(2) NOT NULL,

`username` char(12) NULL,

`tokens` char(8) NULL,

`rank` char(5) NULL,

PRIMARY KEY (`position`)

) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;

Now there will always be 20 records in the DB table, and they will either have values, or be null.

I can send you the html table if you win - it's a basic looking regular html table.

On the side of each of the pages of the website, there will be a top 5 of this table (a smaller version of the main table), and on a seperate page, there will be the main table.

So it needs to be hopefully worked out so that, it isn't accessing the mysql table each time for the top 5 smaller table, on page loads.

It is fine to access the mysql table for the main 20 record table page of the website, but the smaller table showing the top 5 which will be displayed on each page of the website, this needs to be in such a way that maybe it is cached or some such, so that each new page they access on the website, it doesn't have to run the query yet again.

At the same time, it will need to update if there is new data to be read - i.e, if the top 5 have changed. I'm not quite sure of the best way to go about it - tell me your ideas.

I will send through 1 html file which has the full table, and also, on the side, the smaller top 5 table which will be featured on each and every page. The larger table, like I mentioned, will be on one page by itself.

Kind regards.
