I have a dedicated server running Apache/2.4.41 (cPanel) OpenSSL/1.1.1d mod_bwlimited/1.4 WHM/Cpanel (86.0.16) and CENTOS 7.7 v86.0.16. It's being used for hosting of email and website and has 54 user accounts on it. Recently server was compromised and many phishing sites etc appeared. Need assistance to clean the server and harden and enhance security as server was just migrated.

I changed the permissions on the /etc folder and also moved then was thrown out of the server. Now every time I try and connect I received Connection closed by {IP} port 22. I need to be able to get back in to the server and connect via SSH again. I will be able to send over the full log of everything I did to create this issue. Our goal is to have a worker environment, in our VPC, that we can remote into if needed based on an existing Ubuntu image running apache. As per this AWS documentation this should be possible.
