Need a quick advice from Wordpress Expert regarding Rewrite API or editing .htaccess file

I need a basic thing, to generate certain pages from one page, for example /mypage/page would be served from mypage?id=page I tried editing htaccess several ways, like: RewriteRule ^mypage/([^/]*)/?$ mypage?page=$1 [L,QSA] Or using Rewire API to add rules, but no success. In most cases it doesn't even find the resulting page. Can someone give me a quick advice with this?
