I'm a mechanical engineer, designer, and prototyper with over 15y experience in designing, modeling and effective manufacturing of different products, devices and systems which spans across multiple industries. First at all I have to see your model and inspect it for defects (sometime the stl files get some defects when saved and need to be stitched), and to see the compatibility for transformation. If the model (object) is not very complex I rather prefer to redesign it and to send it to you in multiple cad formats (iges, stl, step, obj, etc) which to help you more. If is convenient for you, you may send the stl file and I'll make the assessment for translation for free. We could discuss more here on msg board.
