Facts
I installed NET-SNMP and configured it to monitor "httpd" process
So when I run these commands:
snmpwalk -v 1 localhost -c public UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.1
snmpwalk -v 1 localhost -c public UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.1
I get when httpd up:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.1 = INTEGER: noError(0)
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.1 = STRING:
I get when httpd down:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrorFlag.1 = INTEGER: error(1)
UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.1 = STRING: No httpd process running.
I can send trap to remote or localhost using this command:
snmptrap -v 2c -c public localhost '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021 UCD-SNMP-MIB::prErrMessage.6 s \ "httpd is down do something"
Now in this project, I want to write "shall" script to send trap automatically via corn job
what's the hurdle with cronjob? the commands you run manually can be setup as a shell script and run through cron. Let me know how exactly you want the cron to perform these SNMP walks, thanks
Hi,
I can help write the shell script as well as walk you through how to set up a cron job to run at an interval of your choice. What OS are you using - assuming that it is some flavor of linux (or pure Unix) given that you are talking about a shell script and cron but want to be sure.
I have been working on linux/Unix for over 8 years now and am very comfortable with shell scripts etc.
thanks
After reading your job post carefully i got that you want to be expert guy in Web Services, so contact me once and get the best results on every minute .
Please send me the mib file to explore on the OID... Just need an hour or two to complete this...
