connect an existing simple AS3 project to the 3dcart API

I have a very simple as3 app that choose option for a single product and display it. I wish to connect this app to the 3dcart API and post an order of the product. Previous experience with 3dcart would be prefered but I guess not a requirement since I have all the API documentation. As for the existing AS3 code , it is very small and simple.
