Milestone A - Understand solr Components 1. Setup Solr source (latest stable release) with Debug level in Eclipse 2. Draw Archtectural digrams that explain Index creation process 3. Draw Archtectural diagrams that explains Search process 4. Look up internet for solr index corruption. Stackoverflow, Apache JIRAs 5. Is realtime indexing available. for ex: keep the indexing process on and update the source CSV data. see if this data is reflected in solr search 6. Documentation w Screenshots , internet links Milestone B - Deployment 1. Rebuild Solr as 1 (single) jar and run it in Cloud mode 2. Use appropriate java min max heap parameters to run Solr 3. Setup solr as Linux Service 4. Documentation Milestone C - Solr Security 1. Setup ApacheDS LDAP server and come up with documentation kerberos ticketing system 2. Develop a basic LDAP plugin (possibly Apache Shiro) for Solr. build and run it in cloud mode 3. Documentation w Screenshots Milestone D - Performance 1. Download stock & bond trading data from Yahoo/Google finance in CSV format 2. Come up w Load tests for Index creation process using above data. * The goal is to max out resources(CPU and Memory) * Use multiple creation programs running at the same time 3. Come up with Load tests for Index search queries * Create N number of programs that issue long running complex queries 4. Documentation w screenshots and internet links Milestone E - High Availability 1. Setup maximum number of solr servers in cloud mode 2. Install Zookeeper independently and configure it with Solr Cloud 3. Find a way to use only one Solr URL. Does solr have load balaner uRL or do we have to use a load balancer like HAproxy 4.
