Good afternoon Sr. Please read to the end………………………………………………………… Besides my knowledge in Excel, Visual Basic and Databases I’m a Supply Chain manager at a company that sells over than 2000 skus, for more than 8 years. Your sku or product code should be just numeric, integer, just a code, like an autonumbering column, in the database this will be the primary key of the skus table. An Sku or Product code is not the same as a car VIN number. It seems practical to see all products attributes in it's code, but that could be a description, or coded description, not the Product Code. All the skus attributes, 10 or more must be specified in different columns, or better yet in different tables. If you put them in different tables you’ll be able to create more attributes in the future. Your inventory software must be capable of filtering or selecting the skus according to its attributes (reading them from different columns or different tables). The software should also be able to generate short text that summarizes the sku attributes, as a short description of the sku. You don’t need to storage the product attributes in the sku code, that’s not a good practice. You’ll get very long alphanumeric codes and filtering them on its attributes will be tricky. Hi, Have gone through the project description. Willing to support you on building the SKU generator in Excel. Plan to build it like a Y/N type form, once all the questions are answered the SKU should be automatically generated. Will need to first have a granular understanding of how each and every variable behaves. Based on this the Character can be built. A simple example for this would be the PAN card where every alphabet denotes something based on variables. I work at a manufacturing company and we are overhauling our (outdated) inventory system. I need a SKU generator that can work on up to 10 attributes. I need to be able to adjust the number of characters assigned to each attribute depending on my categorization. Certain attributes are not applicable to all items. The Generator can be created in excel.
