John Conway, a Princeton mathematicians, died of COVID on April 13, 2020. [login to view URL]…/john-conway-inventor-of-the-game…/ Conway worked on a variety of difficult problems, but he will always be remembered as the author of the game of life, [login to view URL] It is likely that you are familiar with this game already, or even implemented it in 102/103 -- it shows up there sometimes. If you are not familiar with the rules, the link above should tell you everything you need to know. Project II is to implement the game in Assembler. Specifics: Use video memory (direct write via segment 0B800h). Allow to enter the initial configuration (by editing it onscreen -- you would need to know int 16h to process input keys) Allow to "play" -- which is really just follow the transformations of the board. Try to make the screen pretty: use color, use box draw characters. ( [login to view URL]…/box-drawings-single-vertical-… ) * Allow to save/load configurations of the board * Allow scrolling the board (the screen in text mode is a bit too small for the game) Keep in mind that the board you can use in the text mode is quite small:only 25x80. Nicer implementation can be obtained by using a different text mode (43x80 or 50x80) or going into graphics -- look up int 10h for details. Overall grade criteria: C at least something works B allows to enter an initial configuration, and play A save/load games, and ... impress me! [login to view URL]
