Create a Microsoft Access Database with 11 fields with 6 filter options and 6 sorting options. Then import data from Excel into the database.
## Deliverables
I have several Excel worksheet filled with data that I need imported into an Access database but the database needs to be created first!
I need an Access database created with 11 fields:
Auction Title
URL to Auction Listing
Activity
Price
Ended
Listed
Days on Market
Domain
Seller
Niche
Status
Then I need an interface built within Access that will consist of 6 filters and 7 sorting functions. They are as follows:
Filter data by end date and list date (i.e. show all records with an end date from 10/1/09 - 10/31/09; or show all records from 10/1/09 to the present)
Filter by price (i.e. show all records with a price from $1 - $500 - or show all records with a price of $500 and above)
Filter by activity (i.e. show all records with 2-10 bids - or show all records with at least 2 bids)
Filter by niche (i.e. show all records that are in the "legal" niche - I envision a drop-down of all niches in the database I can select from)
Filter by seller (i.e. show all records by the seller "legal-guy" - I envision a drop-down of all niches in the database I can select from)
Filter by status (i.e. show all "sold" records)
Sort by end date
Sort by list date
Sort by price
Sort by activity
sort by niche
sort by seller
sort by status
Then I need the developer to review the Excel data to determine what (if any) changes need to be made to the data to make it easier to import to Access - and so that the filtering and sorting functions work properly. I will clean up the data myself but the developer needs to instruct me on what needs to be done.
Once I clean up the data, then the developer needs to import everything into the Access database and test all filter and sort functions to make sure everything is working properly.
The developer then needs to deliver the Access database to me (with all the data in it of course) and the interface so I can import it into my Access on my computer. I'm assuming this is possible. If it's not, then this entire project is pointless as Access is on my computer;)
Finally, the developer needs to provide instructions on how to import the Excel data into the database moving forward. I will be creating additional sheets of Excel data every week so I'll want to import that data into the Access database.
Here is a brief video on what the Excel data looks like (the video will automatically play when you click on the link):
