right now, we have a buddypress site-wide activity feed present on our site, at [login to view URL] (you'll need to register via linkedin button on welcome page to access)
when a standard post is created by a user, this registers to the feed and will display. when either an event or a product is created though (custom post types), it doesn't, which we want it to.
to solve the problem, presumably we need to create a custom action that writes an item to the "activities" database table whenever an event or product is created...
