You need to build an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to operate in the Amazon EC2 environment. This requires Unix and Web server system management and Unix programming skills. You will need to: 1) Read the Amazon documentation at [login to view URL] We will provide Amazon login and password credentials. 2) Select one of Amazon’s pre-built images for this project using your knowledge of Linux builds and your assessment of their suitability for this work. You should give an explanation of the reasons for your choice. 3) Customise the chosen image: a. Install the system software in the list below b. Configure Webmin so that it is available for remote management of an instance c. Configure Apache webserver to start on startup. The configuration should include: a cgi folder supporting Python as below NB: investigate and comment on the implications of replacing the default web browser and home page already in the Amazon instance d. Configure Tomcat to start on startup with default configuration e. Configure S3Dav to start on startup with default configuration except for a non-default FTP port f. Bundle your image, upload to S3 and register it g. Start an instance of the image and test it, i.e. that all the installed web services are working SYSTEM SOFTWARE: Webmin Tomcat (latest production version, port 8080) SQLite S3dav: [login to view URL] cadaver (command line WebDAV client): [login to view URL] Python modules: ElementTree, cElementTree, libxml2, pycurl-ssl, pysqlite, psyco numerical python 1.0: http://numpy.scipy.org// Current production versions should be built from sources (which should be included in the image). The build is preferably Python 2.5 if these modules are all available for 2.5; otherwise 2.4.3. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Linux, Amazon-EC2
