Hi.
We are looking for a developer to build an original game with a cross platform software engine like Cocos2D, Unity etc.
The aim would be to release the game on both iOS and Android.
In summary, the game is a horizontal (endless) runner, with recurring obstacles and enemies. The character is a superhero type and has certain abilities.
Although we have written an introductory spec and have coding experience, we are not games programmers per se, and hence we require an aspiring and energetic individual to bring our vision to fruition. Consequently the spec is not a highly technical document, but a Look & Feel description, which you as Developer can allow your imagination to work on, and with your rockstar flair and cutting-edge vision, can work into something original and catchy.
Developer needs to have total confidence in their ability to handle all coding requirements, and preferably to have access to a high quality graphic designer who they can liaise directly with to save time. £Cocopops£ However, please note that compelling 2D art talent is a must.
When people play the completed game the words that should come to mind are:
Fun, addictive, exciting, fast, clean and crisp graphics, looks modern.
The words that should not come to mind are:
Boring, dull graphics, buggy, crashes, looks old fashioned.
We need a Developer with some imaginative flair, not simply a coder, so that they can run with our idea and surprise us with what they produce. We are not overbearing or over-controlling but rather would wish to be able to throw ideas back and forth and work as a team. Therefore any Developer lacking an imagination, or unable to give and take suggestions, should not apply!
On applying for this job, please include your availability and how long you think such a game would take you, explaining what you are basing your timescale on (bearing in mind we have not provided the spec yet, this can be a rough estimate which we won't hold you to strictly lol !) Since you didn't provide specs, my bid is generic, will reduce it once you provide the specs. I need to know which graphics you consider modern, fun, crisp, etc. to know what you're looking for in the finished product. Something that is modern and crisp to one person can be dull and annoying to another, since the looks are subjective, that's the reason why I need to know what you like. Thanks.

Hello, I'm very interested in developing this game for you. Right now I'm finishing a game similar to yours, endless runner, android/iOS. I can surely reuse some code, but still, since this game will be super high-end, it must take it's time to develop.
I'm available since Feb 23, and expect it would take me 1.5 month. Most of the time is probably level generating system, different enemies and hero behaviour.

Not to sure what you mean by "Please include the word within £ £ in the above text", but I have read and understood your summary. I am a new freelancer (signed up last year but never started) and I feel comfortable working on this project. If I/you believe my graphic design is not good enough, I will contract a graphic designer.
I will only be able to fully assess how long it will take me once I get all details, but I'd estimate somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks (being honest).

I am pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer science at UCT (university is ranked in the top 0.5% in the world).
I have worked on a range of various mobile applications and games. I've spent a lot of my time learning everything there is to know about game development and even wrote my own Game Engine from scratch. I worked for myself developing mobile games and worked for a company called Fibretek Developments (Pty) Ltd working on a medical application which processed 3 dimensional scan data.
I am recognized in the field and have even been invited to Google HQ in the past.
I am a dedicated creative developer and would not bid on your job if I did not believe I could do the job. Communication is key and hence I will keep in contact throughout the development of your project.

-How long it takes? Well, that's very variable. If you want a fun, addictive, exciting, fast, clean and crisp graphics, modern looking game, you need more than just one experienced game developer with a few constraints... It's actually very challenging, and if you are not careful, you can spend a lot of money paying someone to make something that none likes. It's a lot of design, testing, and redesign. And by a lot I really mean A LOT.
If the odds are in our favor, such game may take 1-3 months to completion. Take in mind that a playtesting session can change pretty much everything we were heading to, and the development time suffers from it, and we are talking only of programming. Add to this the time it takes to tune in with the visual style. Prepare to your ASAP being not really soon.
