Politics in the United States
Welcome to America....the land of the free...and home of the brave, where everyone has an voice….and the right to free speech! Or so you would think.
We all have our opinions...some highly political, some purely philosophical and some personal and private (perhaps those are the ones that should remain unsaid). I mean, seriously, Freedom of Speech is the FIRST amendment to the Constitution, people! So we daresay it’s THAT important that almost 224 years ago (Dec 15, 1791) our government felt it was necessary to amend the US Constitution to add the following statement: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
So, this is a essentially a good thing? Right? You would totally think so! But today, Americans have taken this to the extreme. People are just randomly spurting out every thought that pops into their heads. This in and of itself is not a bad thing, but the problem is that everyone today is offended by something. No matter what someone says, there will be someone out there who finds something about that statement offensive. Someone can make a simple Facebook post or Tweet statin
