Starting point, latest published financial statements to be obtained, in addition should source and analyse additional published financial info e.g share price data and benchmark against at least one copetitor. use the financial analysis to answer questions as, would you invest(buy shares in this company -1600words), would you work for this company -400words, and what are the limitations of financial ratioanalysis and what specific problems face when analysing and benchmarking the company -500 words work should include summary table of keys ratios showing data for the last 4-5years. work should include an additional table which benchmarks the most recent year against a similar companies for the same key ratios. this can then be used to analyse how sainsbury or morrison has perfomed against one of its competitors. relevant ratios might include: profit margin, gearing, intrest cover, dividend per share, earnings per share, dividend cover, ROCE, ROE. look at sales growth Relevant ratio will include sales per squaremetre and sales per employee. Conclusion must answer the questions about investment and employment. To support employment issue, look for data such as director's pay , trend in employees nos, staff retention rates etc.
