We make a distribution that runs both Android and Debian. We have an Android application that when user clicks will switch desktop to Debian. We want to be able to add an icon (Linux Penguin) to the status bar which should always show up when system boots. This is similar to Screen Shot icon on some Android distributions. The actual action when user clicks the icon is writing a byte to a file. The platform is rooted but SDK for platform is not available.
