Fix SQL Deadlocks & Slow Queries on Custom Magento Build

We are looking for an SQL Expert to both analyse and optimise our database and code to fix a recurring deadlock and any slow queries.
Here is a sample of the deadlock error.
Order saving error: SQLSTATE[40001]: Serialization failure: 1213 Deadlock found when trying to get lock; try restarting transaction, query was: UPDATE `catalog_product_entity` SET `entity_type_id` = ?, `attribute_set_id` = ?, `type_id` = ?, `sku` = ?, `has_options` = ?, `required_options` = ?, `created_at` = '2018-07-16 07:14:59', `updated_at` = '2018-09-12 14:54:05', `exclude_from_supply_needs` = ?
