We need someone to build a database-driven website where people can: sign in as a new or existing member, browse and sort a members’ directory, click to open a member’s full profile, list projects for other members to bid on and ask questions of project owners. We also need a blog, contact us and a Wiki-style resources page as part of the website.
The easiest way to think of this website is that it will be an online bidding website like Freelancer.com which brings together buyers and makers of certain types of software programs. Further details and draft wire frames will be provided to developers that can prove they have the skills and experience to build this website to a high standard.
You will be responsible for creating the company logo and a beautiful website design, writing the code so that it is SEO friendly and easy for us to edit with minimal technical know-how. The website should be standards-compliant and appear the same across all major versions of browsers. The content management system, database structure and cascading style sheets must be easy to use and follow.
This project will need to be undertaken in stages. Payment milestones will be agreed with the developer based on completion of the four stages summarised below.
• Planning: Understand the project brief, our requirements and marketing objectives.
• Design: Agree the company logo and website design; update and agree the wireframes; agree mock-ups.
• Development: build templates for each page type; fill with content; test links and functionality.
• Launch: load website for closed beta testing; complete website testing on multiple browsers and versions; supply proper documentation for the website; fix any errors found.
The main features we are looking for are summarised below:
1. Home page: Images and text explaining what the website does; video window so people can click to ‘start the tour’ of the website. Note – we will produce the video ourselves, we just need the ability to play a video on the home page.
2. Sign-in: New members can create an account or login using an existing username and password. Creating an account includes supplying personal and business details, indicating skill set, links to portfolio of works and social network connections. New members can review data entered then accept it before posting.
3. Post project: Once a member is signed in, they can post a project or bid on projects already listed on the website. They can ask questions online prior to bidding.
4. Directory: Members can login and edit their profiles. Others can review the directory listing, sort and filter the table of members, search within the members’ directory and drill down to see full members profile.
5. Resources: The Wiki-style resources page will contain useful information for both buyers and makers. We will supply the content for this part of the website.
6. Blog: This should form part of the website with all the normal blogging functionality.
7. Contact us: Web email form plus normal business contact details.
8. About us: Photos, descriptions, business mission.
