Installing a linux driver

Requirements for this project: Linux Topcom modem (preferably Topcom Xplorer 850) Here it goes: I have a Topcom Xplorer 850 usb modem (Globespan chipset), i need it to work under linux. Topcom however doesn't provide linux driver, and isn't intendet in the future. Now there is a linux driver for an ECI adsl modem (also globespan chipset) that shoud work for almost all modems with globespan chipset. The problem is i get an: LCP: Timeout sending config request Error If you can fix this i would be more then glad to.
