SUMMARY:

I need a perl script written for Centos Linux Perl 5.8.8 updated so it will work with Windows perl.

WORKS FINE IN CENTOS PERL 5.8.8:

The perl script works fine on Centos Linux perl 5.8.8. The exact version details are:

[root@ldc302 ~]# perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.8 built for i386-linux-thread-multi

THE PROBLEM:

When I try to run this perl script in Windows with ActiveState perl or Strawberry perl (or any Windows based perl), I receive this errors similar to this:

Negative length at c:/Perl/lib/IO/[url removed, login to view] line 433, <GEN0> line 11.

-or-

Viewable::get_ng_block_info given illegal value: 889 ,889 at [url removed, login to view] line 926, <

GEN0> line 17.

BACKGROUND ON THIS PERL SCRIPT:

This perl script converts an old ebook format to RTF (rich text file). Several ***examples of this old book format*** may be found here: [url removed, login to view]

SCRIPT USAGE (see attached file for the perl script)

1) Unzip the perl script to your linux directory.

2) Unzip a step book to its own directory.

3) Command line syntax: perl [url removed, login to view] /path/to/book/directory > [url removed, login to view]

4) The perl script will end with a read error when it gets to the end of the file. The script doesn't check how big the file is and just reads and outputs until there is nothing left to read, resulting in that error. That read error is normal and is not causing any problems. If you want to fix that bug too, then please say so when you bid.

BEFORE YOU BID:

I suspect certain commands, possibly those involving strength length, were changed in more recent versions of Perl. PLEASE be very familiar with perl programming on linux and windows based machines and the differences between older versions of perl and more recent versions of perl. PLEASE read/download this project carefully bidding.
