use data from Excel 2007 to replace Word 2007 data

Hi, if you know VBA for excel 2007, then this should be easy for you!
It's going to function like a GREP - find certain tags in a word file and replace them with data
Here is what we need:
1) We have an excel file with columns named such as filename, outputfilename, data1, tag1, data2, tag2, data3, tag3 etc.
2) Each row in Excel represents a different Word file (the filename is in one of the columns).
3) You are to take each file, and replace certain "tag" words in Word (ex., <<date>>) file with the corresponding data value. (Example: tag1 gets replaced with data1)
4) Save the word file as another name in the same directory
5) Go onto next row
*This is NOT the built in VBA MERGE command. I want this to function like an Excel grep.
*Has to be compatible with word/excel 2007
