SWGR urgently require Qualified Civil Engineers to provide supervision of ground investigation works. As the location is trackside (rail) a current PTS card is required. (we may sponsor suitable candidates). Will consider suitably qualified engineers from a Geotechnical background.
Location: Central Scotland Corridor (Glasgow – Edinburgh)
Week Commencing 15th March – approx. 5 weeks duration
Duties include (but not limited to) the following:
1. Ensuring the borehole drilling teams access the track at the correct access points.
2. Ensuring the boreholes are drilled at the correct locations.
3. Describing the local site conditions, i.e. earthwork type and height / depth, cess width, difference in elevation between rail head and borehole location, etc.
4. Ensuring the buried services protocols are followed, i.e. check buried services records, CAT scanning, dig an inspection pit to 1.2m, ensuring permits to dig and supporting documentation are correctly completed.
5. Ensuring boreholes are drilled to the required depths and if obstructions are met, what to do next.
6. Being able to make decisions how to proceed in the event of on-site problems;
7. In some instances, oversee masonry coring and pull-out tests.
