Cross-Browser plugin to install remote printer on local system

I need to have a component for sharepoint created that will have a floor plan image with links on the image for a specific printer on that floor. When a user clicks on one of those links, I need a plug-in/activex component that will initiate the install of that remote printer, locally on the system. I would like it to have dialogs confirming the start/success/failure of the local printer install.
