'The Christians: Their First Two Thousand Years' History Book Series Infomercial

Contest Brief

We are looking for an experienced visual content creator (or creators) to make manifest a promotional video for our history book series 'The Christians: Their First Two Thousand Years.' The intended audience for this infomercial will be Christians that enjoy reading history, hence why our main goal is to emphasize the importance of this series. We want to provide our potential readers with information on what the history book series covers combined with reader testimonials, and why it was created.

This video needs to be engaging and visually appealing so we can draw attention for our series. In particular, the first few seconds should include some kind of 'hook' to pique the curiosity of Christian history lovers.

Attached is a storyboard-like script of what we are trying to accomplish. The background is actually the eye of Christ with the intention that forms the background slowly zooming out to reveal the Savior of the world. This is just one interpretation. If you are inspired to come up with a different approach we are very keen to see what the Lord has put in your heart to convey.

This video project is a different animal than your average book trailer. It's more wordy than most because we've realized over the years that if the viewer is turned off by a few more words than usual in a video the chances are they will not ultimately wind up buying the twelve 300+ page books (the word count for this entire series is comparable in size to the average translation of the Bible).

The testimonials are excellent, but long. I suggest using a technique to highlight key phrases in each but also allow the viewer to pause the video and to read them entirely. We have hundreds of testimonials, by the way. These three are from rather famous Christian leaders in North America.

We realize comparing this work to the Bible can appear pretentious and even blasphemous. Although we have taken great care to present events accurately, the work is not in any way inerrant or "God-breathed." We began this project because we fervently believe that after two millennia the average believer of 'The Way' needs to be able to easily discover what Christians have accomplished since our Savior first charged us with the Great Commission.

The story told is by no means a "white wash." Where Christians have failed we say so in a fair and balanced manner. Nevertheless, the resulting story that weaves together the souls of billions can only be deeply read to truly appreciate the magnificence of what has been accomplished over the centuries through thousands of valiant human vessels of Jesus Christ.

It took us twelve years to make these books, with hundreds of writers, researchers, illustrators and many more involved from all the major trinitarian Christian denominations.

- You are free to use video from an earlier book trailer (link below). Although it conveys a lot of the series' content it doesn't incorporate any testimonials and like many book trailers doesn't succeed in really reaching the reader deeply. Deeply reaching readers may prove still unachievable in this new promotional video. Nevertheless, we are hopeful and prayerful this new promotional video will prove even more effective than the current one.
