Contest Brief

Company Background
Our office is a multidisciplinary design firm: architecture, interior design and landscape design. We are also an office that uses scientific evidence to inform our creative designs. We want clients to value these efforts and pay for our expertise. IN order for them to value these skills we need to educate them about how science can inform great design. So we launched a campaign to spend more time writing about the topics that are important to us as designers but also important to our prospective clients. We have short form and long form research articles on various topics. Since we are a design firm we place a lot of value on visualization. When we write we also want compelling visual content to connect with written content--to help our audiences connect with the material. This is where an illustrator is needed.

Article
Attached in this contest is a three page article our design team authored regarding privacy and the workplace. Specifically privacy in workplace where everyone sits in an open plan (no walls/partitions or doors or offices ). Management does this to save money and the foster better communication between coworkers. However there are tradeoffs and unintended consequences that come along with this choice: more distractions, noise, interruptions, smells, loud conversations or loud phone calls, etc. The article outlines the issues to consider.

Contest
We would like two illustrations to complement this article. One needs to be the banner at the top of a standard web page and the other simple square box that will be anchored on the page edge with text wrapping around it in the middle of the document.

1) The banner graphic needs to abstractly represent company management, money savings (false), real estate, and the desk bound worker suffering as a result of the decisions made without their input.
2) The smaller graphic could be abstract representation of the work place and the distractions a desk bound worker may face when they are trying to concentrate and there is the normal office chatter and chaos around them.

The intent of the images is not to be a cartoon or humorous. We want the work to be legible, serious and provoke thought about the subject matter. Its connection to the text should be very apparent.

Deliverable
We would like the content to be web based on posted on our blog http://www.bcnumber3.com/ and sent in our upcoming quarterly newsletter. We will credit the illustrator in the caption. The audience will be potential clients, design professionals, business owners, etc.

Hi brijeshyk, the banner will run across the webpage from side to side and its height should be about a third of the screen view. In regards to your second request, I prefer not to give samples because I do not want to restrict anyone's creativity. I hope this information has helped. I look forward to perhaps seeing an entry by you. Regards.
