Contest Brief
Hi,
We finished building a murphy bed with side-cabinets, and now need to paint it. The cabinets/bed have a Castle theme (bed will fold down with chains like a draw-bridge). When the bed is folded up into the wall, the legs of the bed turn into a portcullis.
Now we want a design to paint on the cabinets and bed when the bed is folded up into the wall. For example, the cabinets could be painted to look like stone towers. Maybe the bed would look like the inside of a castle gate, and you can see a path going up to the castle keep? Or maybe there's a hill with some sort of sacred tree, or maybe a sword in a stone? Or do you have a better idea?
It would be good if the colors were brighter colors (i.e. the castle turret stone should be lighter stone color), so the room doesn't get too dark. Kids play in this room.
Please see the attached picture of the bed. Note, the side cabinets do not have doors yet. I can make the cabinets have 2 doors each, or 3 doors each, if that makes it any different. I can also make the cabinet get wider/deeper on top like some castle turrets, and add embrasure/merlons to top.
Here are some thoughts on my personal 'tastes' and thoughts on the project results:
- I grew up with Disney / Nintendo / Zelda castles
- My wife likes dragons and anime, but I'm not sure if a dragon or anime would fit for this project...
- The perspective of the illustration does not need to be accurate. If you want the image perspective to look up or look straight through the gate, that is fine
- We don't need to see all (or any) of the entry's ceiling. Not sure if that makes sense, but the bed is much wider than it is tall, so if you add too much of the castle-entry ceiling and a path on the floor, there won't be much left in the middle. Ignore this line if you do not understand what I am saying.

“Marianela has great communication skills and creativity, so it was easy to get my idea created as I hoped, and yet she was able to add more to it than I had originally thought. Thanks!”
