Contest Brief

We are a boutique distillery. We are waiting on our licence and a building approval before we can produce any alcohol.

My developer is putting together a website.

I want to design 6 bottle labels. For this competition you only need to design TWO bottle labels. I would like these labels to be for 1. Choc Mint Vodka and 2.Marmalade Gin, I want the designer to show the label on a bottle. The image of the bottle with label needs to look like a real photo not a mock up. The label itself needs to be in a format that can be sent to the label printer. My aim is for customers to be able to see what the bottles will look like.

The winner of this competition will then be given first chance to design the other 4 bottles. Once the distillery is open there will be new labels and bottle pictures that need to be designed on a monthly basis.

The shape of the bottle that you must use is shown in an attachment. The image of the bottle must however
show clear liquid not amber.

I would prefer a theme that is relatively simple using gold and black as the main part of the theme. I am however open to any ideas.

The existing logo must be used on every bottle. So what you will design is any other elements that distinguish each type of spirit. A splash of colour to distinguish each different kind of bottle might work.

In Australia a bottle must be labeled with certain information and although you do not need to prepare that part of the label now you will need to be able to explain how that information will be included. I have included some examples in photos of the Australian government required info.

I have also attached our logo

The distillery is called The law. There will be a seal that goes over the top of the bottle top that says - Break The Law. This seal will be common to all bottles so only one is needed. It should be in a format that can be sent to a printer.

      Please see the comment that I posted this morning. About my preferred design. Your question is a good one. I don't want the circle from my logo just the words The Law and the word GIN or VODKA as appropriate. On the word The Law - The L and T will 17mm tall. The words GIN will be 20mm tall and in Arial Narrow font or similar. The third label will be a narrow label that runs up the side of the bottle and has all other information - including the type of vodka

    After looking at the entries I want to make some comments. I am leaning towards a bottle design with a clear label, that is very simple . The design will use part only of my existing logo. The part it will take is the image of the Still with the line under it and the words The Law. All in gold/Copper. Under that also on a clear sticker will be the word GIN or VODKA but this time in the font Arial Narrow or similar and in black. This part of the label will never change. However none of this says what kind of Vodka or Gin this is so there needs to a thin long label 30mm at the maximum down one side of the bottle which will show all of the statutory requirements about pregnancy, standard drinks, ABV etc and must also show what kind of vodka or gin it is eg. Marmalade Gin or Choc Mint Vodka. It will need to say these words but also use colour and a simple image to signify what kind of GIN or VODKA it is.
