I own http://backpackertravelguides.com/

it will be a portal for travelguides around the world

With content such as...
- Top 10 things to do in ....
- Best Beaches in Asia....
- Top Hostels In Australia...

Plus a blog, gear reviews, accommodation&flight booking affiliate schemes.

I want a modern Logo, which i can use on a responsive website and potentially in some form on a future app icon.
No idea of colour scheme as of yet

maybe something similar to the attached pic

  Not sure at the mo - thinking of looking 'modern' web2.0 style - the colour combination can always be tweaked after, im guessing use 3 different colours - dark, light and colour

If you seal the competition you will get more unique. Also if you up the prize money you'll have a better chance of actually getting a decent looking logo.
